Two studios
Two different lighting schedules.
With the Loft featuring north/west facing windows, and the Flat having south/east, their lighting is totally opposite. See below to learn what type of lighting hits at what times.
The Loft
Spring/Summer
9am - 3pm
Bright, soft light.
3pm - 7pm
Harsh light.
7pm - 7:30pm
Golden light
8pm-9pm
Dim/dark
Fall/Winter
9am - 10am
Soft but slightly dimmed
10am - 2pm
Soft and bright
2pm - 5pm
Harsh light with golden light at around 4:30
5pm-9pm
Dim/dark
**December/January
4pm - 5pm
Around the shortest days of the year, this last hour can get pretty dim and hard to shoot in with the natural light unless you have a full-frame camera with good low-light capabilities. Artificial light sources are encouraged for this time slot this time of year.
The Flat
Spring/Summer
9am - 10am
Stunning harsh light that sprawls across the cyc wall + in front of the lounge
10am - 12pm
Floor light softens as harsh light stays saturating the Cyc wall. This harsh light slowly shrinks, moving to the right, as this time period goes on.
12pm - 5pm
Soft light on cyc wall
Harsh light now moves to the south side windows (brick wall) casting down across 1/3 of the floor.
5pm-7pm
Soft light throughout the space with a quick spurt of golden reflections around 7-7:30
8pm - 9pm
Dim/Dark
Fall/Winter
*TBD, we have yet to experience this time frame in this new space, but this is a decent estimate9am–10am
Harsh directional morning light through east and most likely south windows.
10am–12pm
Direct sun may continue reaching the cyc, while south-facing windows start to cast more pronounced floor shadows.
12pm–3pm
Soft light on cyc. Strong direct light from south windows, potentially extending deeper and more directly into the lounge and across the floor than in summer.
3:00pm–4:30pm
Rapidly fading light, with short burst of golden light during sunset.
4:30pm onward
Dim/dark around the shortest days of the year. Artificial lighting recommended.
